The following steps and tips will ensure your Lola Lee Cover Peach Acrylic Powder application is flawless and stunning.
Nail Prep Stage
Step 1
File your nails with a Lola Lee 100/180 Nail File to your desired length and shape them. If you use a nail clipper, ensure they are evenly shaped.
Step 2
Apply Lola Lee Cuticle Remover to all your cuticles, allow this product +/- 1 min to soften your cuticles.
Step 3
Gently push back your cuticles from the nail plate with a Lola Lee Cuticle Pusher. Metal Cuticle Pushers do a good job, but please be gentle! You only want to remove your cuticle not a layer of your nail. Double-check for cuticle debris by pulling back the sidewalls of the nail.
Step 4
Buff the entire surface of the nail with the Lola Lee Buffer, removing the natural shine of the nail only. You don’t want to use anything rough on the natural nail, as this will damage your nails.
Step 5
Remove any filing dust and Cuticle Remover by cleansing the nail with a Lola Lee Nail Wipe and a drop of Lola Lee Sani Liquid.
Step 6
If required, you can apply Lola Lee Prep It to the natural nail plate, this will allow for better adhesion of the product to the natural nail.
Product Application Stage
Three (3) Bead Method
Pour some Lola Lee monomer into a dappen dish and prepare the acrylic powder close by.
You may either place some powder in a separate dappen bowl or use from direct from the tub.
Also, keep a flat piece of paper towel handy to one side which is used to wipe the brush between bead applications.
Step 7
Apply a thin layer of Lola Lee Bond onto the natural nails and let it air dry for about 30 seconds.
Step 8
Dip the Lola Lee (Kolinsky) brush into the monomer liquid and lightly wipe any excess off the edge of the dappen dish.
* there is no need to push and splay the bristles on the edge of the dish in this process
Step 9
Dip the tip of your brush into the Lola Lee acrylic powder to pick up a bead of product (using a dabbing or drag method), that is about medium to dry consistency and large enough for shaping the entire free edge.
Note: The “precise” required amount takes practice over time and it may be better to use two smaller beads to shape the entire nail free edge or tip / extension initially
Step 10
Place the initial bead on the center of the free edge of the tip or natural nail.
Before you begin to blend any product, immediately wipe your brush free of any remaining product on a table (paper) towel. Do this on every stage of bead application below.
Use the middle portion or “belly” of your Lola Lee acrylic brush to press and gently smooth and blend the product to shape the free edge. Using a pressing and smoothing motion creates a more consistent and universal, natural-looking result.
Step 11
Using a medium consistency mix ratio, place the second bead on the nail plate just below the first bead and next to the free edge line in the center of the nail.
Press and smooth the product to the sidewalls (from left to right) – up to; but not touching the skin whilst leaving a free margin between the product and the skin.
Bring any excess or remaining acrylic over the free edge ensuring it it spread evenly.
* Ensure that the product is somewhat thinner around all the lateral edges.
Step 12
Lastly, pick up a smaller third bead on the tip of your brush and place and shape it around the base of the nail plate, leaving a small area around the cuticle. Only a thin layer is required here which will produce a more natural appearance.
Step 13
Allow to set then use the recommend filing technique to file and buff over the top, including the free edge and the side edges. Shape accordingly (if required) and dust any any excess filing away.
You may also remove and clean the nails from debris/dust using some Lola Lee Sani Liquid and a lint free nail wipe.
Analysis – look for any imperfections in consistency and press and smooth the brush over the entire nail plate to smooth out any imperfections (if any).
Step 14
Cap off with a single coat of Lola Lee Non-Wipe Top Coat and allow to set for 30 seconds in your UV/LED nail lamp.
Step 15
Apply Lola Lee Cuticle Oil to the cuticles and gently rub it into the skin.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Did you know?
The “mix ratio” or the amount of monomer liquid and acrylic (polymer) powder used to create a bead is called the mix ratio.
The “mix ratio” used can differ depending on the climate conditions.
For example, very cold weather conditions may cause the product to set much slower whilst hotter conditions may cause it to set faster.
A bead mix ratio can be described as either dry, medium or wet.
If equal amount of monomer to powder is used, it is called a dry bead
If twice as much monomer to powder is used to create a bead, it is called a wet bead.
Halfway between these two is called a medium bead and is considered the ideal the mix ratio of 1½ parts liquid to 1 part powder
Note: Never pour any used “contaminated” products such as monomer and powder back into their original containers from dappen bowls etc.
